The university is composed of 23 professional colleges, three industrial colleges (co-established), one independent college (College of Science and Technology), with a total of 90 undergraduate programs. It currently enrolls over 26,200 full-time undergraduate students and more than 9,400 master and doctoral program students. In recent years, it has won five second-prizes for national teaching achievement awards. The university has 40 national-level first-class undergraduate programs, two national-level comprehensive reform pilot projects, two national-level university-student off-campus practice education bases, one national base for humanities education, and two national experimental teaching demonstration centers. It also offers 32 national-level first-class undergraduate courses, one virtual teaching and teaching and research division approved by the Ministry of Education, two national-level teaching teams, one Huang Danian-style teaching team, and 11 state-approved textbooks. At the provincial level, there are 22 high-level undergraduate teaching teams, four virtual teaching and research divisions, seven outstanding talent cultivation projects, 21 first-class undergraduate programs, eight comprehensive reform pilot projects, 201 first-class undergraduate courses,eight undergraduate-level and eight postgraduate-level provincial model courses in Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education, as well as one provincial demonstration center for research on courses in Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education. The university has one national demonstration base of professional master's degree program in education, four provincial graduate education innovation bases, eight provincial industry-university joint cultivation bases, three provincial graduate workstations, and eight provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers.

The university adheres to its fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing talent, and continuously improves its teaching system centered on academic learning. It aims to cultivate outstanding talents who can serve as pillars in society by meeting students' rational choices regarding majors, courses, teachers, teaching methods, and diverse development. The university has launched the Outstanding University Students innovative talent cultivation plan, and it is the first school in the province to implement state-funded teacher education programs. It also offers programs such as undergraduate-graduate and undergraduate-doctoral continuous cultivation. The employment rate of its undergraduate graduates is the highest among colleges and universities in Jiangxi, while the employment rate of its graduate students remains above 90%. The university is among the top 50 in China for graduate employment. Students consistently achieve high pass rates in national English (CET-4 and CET-6) and computer proficiency exams. Students have achieved outstanding results in various competitions. The university has achieved full coverage of the special prizes and gold medals in three major academic competitions, namely the China International College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the Challenge Cup, and the Create Youth. It has won the Outstanding Cup in the Challenge Cup competition twice, and the total number of gold medals in the China International College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has remained first among all Normal Universities in China for three consecutive years. Students have also achieved remarkable success in international sports competitions, winning bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics, gold at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, and two gold medals at the 2024 Chengdu World University Games. In national university student competition rankings, the university ranks 71st among all Chinese universities and 4th among Normal Universities in 2023, and 93rd among all universities and 5th among Normal Universities in the 2019-2023 rankings. The university has successively been approved as the first batch of pilot units for educational informatization among undergraduate institutions nationwide, a national college student practice and entrepreneurship education base by the Ministry of Education, one of the first batch of national exemplary universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, a national model university for teacher assessment and evaluation reform, one of the top 50 universities with typical innovation and entrepreneurship experiences nationwide, a national innovation and entrepreneurship college, a national training and research center for ideological and political work teams in colleges and universities (Jiangxi Normal University), a university implementing the Ministry of Education's Sports and Art Infiltration Action Plan, one of the first batch of universities implementing the Ministry of Education's Hongzhi Assistance Plan, and one of the National Language Promotion Bases. The university's School of Marxism has been selected as one of the third batch of national key Schools of Marxism.
